Setting up Google Ads for Provider Clicks and Purchases
In this article we are going to explain how to set up 2 conversion events within the Google Ads platform that will receive data from the Segment platform. These have to be created at least 6hrs before reaching out to the Airport One dev team(this is a Google requirement/delay).
The two events will be;
- FMA Purchase
Flights, hotels, Cars and Packages - FMA Provider Click
This is a user who has clicked on a view deal button and gone to a providers website to make a booking or rental. We are treating this as an “add to cart” event.
Step 1
Navigation to the Goals section within Google ads, found in the left hand sidebar menu. https://ads.google.com/aw/conversions
Step 2
Click the Blue button labeled “Create conversion action”.
Step 3
Select the Import option with the following settings;
- CRMs, files, or other data sources
- Track conversions from clicks
- Skip this step and set up a data source later
Step 3
Under “Add conversion actions” set the following
- Conversion Goal -> Purchase
- Enter a conversion name -> FMA Purchase
- Add
Step 4
Save and continue
Step 5
Nothing needs to happen on this page, the data will be pushed to this conversion event by Segment, click Done.
Repeating this process for FMA Provider Click event.
After clicking done you will return to the Goals summary dashboard.
Your new conversion event will be in the list, similar to what is shown in the image in Step 1. You will then repeat this whole process for the “FMA Provider Click” event, but this time in Step 3 you will use the following settings.
- Conversion Goal -> Add to cart
- Enter a converion name -> FMA Provider Click
